I would love to see this article. I know it’s not just my kid. I think he may be more confident about speaking is mind than some because he has older siblings. This political climate has created additional issues. I agree that moving could make things better, or not better. It is almost impossible to know. Thank you for more evidence that it’s not just him
He is very accustomed to granola and would hope for a “woke” community. So, I appreciate the suggestions. These could be great options.
I also appreciate the perspective on economic diversity Thank you so much
I love the Quaker way and so does he. I took a look at Haverford. It sounds amazing and I think I’d be in heaven but I think for him a larger campus might be ideal. Thank you so much for sharing.
This would be great for my other kids. He’s not as outdoorsy. But I agree it would be an amazing way to make connections. Perhaps I can pitch it that way. Thank you for the suggestion!
Thank you for the great info, and follow up. Very interesting piece about Hamilton. I will be sure to pass this along. Thank you very much!
I think Haveerford’s “world” is a lot bigger than you’d imagine based on its size.
I appreciate your feedback. And, yes, the time, expertise and concern shared by others has not only been helpful, but very moving. Thank you for adding to the conversation.
I personally agree. There is most definitely an argument to be made that deeper connections can be found in smaller environments. I would go along with that 100%. I’m just not sure that he could be enthusiastic about a smaller university.
I have appreciated the many folks who have shared their personal experiences about USC, and also statistics that have definitely changed my perspective about USC. Thank you
Thank you so much for this great resource! I really appreciate it!
Rice was not on our radar initially but we continue to hear great things. We are thinking it might be worth a visit. Thank you
That is very impressive! I’d love to know freshman retention rate of other universities Thank you
I’ve not heard of this. Thank you so much for sharing. This sounds like something that would definitely be of interest to him! I appreciate this very much.
Do you might sharing where your daughter is in school?
She is a junior at Wash & Lee.
I meant to provide this link in my earlier post.
This was a pre-orientation program, but I bet any of these groups would be happy to have someone join up now – or at the beginning of spring semester.

It sounds like you have a lot of info specifically about Tufts. The info you’ve shared has been helpful. if you have any other pearls, I’d love to hear them. The ideal outcome could be for him to find his community in this great university. Thank you so much!
I already visited the site and emailed him a link! Very interesting. Thank you for sharing this!
I hope your daughter is enjoying her experience!
I read granola and they’re not near Tufts “stature” but I think UVM, Oregon, W Washington, amongst others - and American for action.
@DramaMama2021 mentioned the Shepherd Center - UVM is an affiliate.
btw - there are schools that reward service - so you’d be with likeminded people. The third thing my daughter is at her school is a Ketner Scholar. She was a finalist before removing the school from consideration for a similar one at Boulder and I have to think other schools have these type service scholarships. They are meant for the doers, not the talkers - and if you can find groups like these that schools sponsor - maybe then it’s like minded pople.
btw - back to Emory - the cool thing about transferring there if it were an option - as they have Oxford as a 2nd campus where kids only go the first two years, he wouldn’t be alone in transferring in.
While that’s three semesters away, if he’s interested in abroad, you could kill a semester or year that way, etc.
I’ll add that Haverford and Bryn Mawr, while separate schools, share so much that you should probably think of it as one campus. Students move better them for classes and meals, for example. Students can also take classes at Swat and Penn (with a little more effort) but it keeps it all fresh feeling too small.
It may not be what you’re looking for, but if you’re not familiar with it, it’d be easy to get the wrong impression from the website!
