lol yes you are right…today is a wave day hopefully well see some statues changing later on in the day

This is the best thread ever!

I am still at forwarded. No fatty packet in the mail. I am hoping tomorrow…Did anyone else apply to Marshall? My counselor at school told me today that she has not heard of anyone getting accepted yet. My private counselor said that 2 of her kids got into Engineering and Architecture yesterday.

Ugh! God I’m lame…By the power vested in me by the state of California, I present to you, the moments of this thread that were so good I just had to read them again:

Wheaty more quietly but with purpose: “Bring it tomorrow.” Hold a beat, “Just be sure you bring it tomorrow”.

“Okay. Here’s what’s in the mail. A Rolling Stone… a bunch of bills… a bunch of junk… and… a BIG FAT ENVELOPE FROM USC.” I screamed, scaring my hair stylist.

Unlike the convienienced citizens of America, I have to go to school, come home, attack AP Government homework and then return to the dirty confines of my minimum-wage job at Toys R Us. I lead a glamorous life, I know. And my nameless mailman should cater to my needs.

I stop…pull them back, and then check my status like a pathetic goober.

All joking aside, great thread, good luck to everybody! :)

Do you live in socal? When did the envelope come? My mail doesn’r get here until around 3PM. Congrats!

Ben came…stuck out his bottom lip like a petulant child and whimpered, “I ain’t got nothing for you.”

I am back on the sofa checking my status…forwarded since 3/15.

My mailman’s name is Richard. Richard Alpert. He has not aged for over a century.

Once again Ben drove up my street in his little white jeep yesterday. He saw me, smiled and said, “Any school would be lucky to have you kid”. Then he stopped, stepped out of his truck and handed me my mail. He then took 5 minutes out of his day to ask me what I wanted in life, to ask me why it mattered so much to me to go to USC. He wondered why the place I was getting my degree took on more importance than the journey toward that degree. Wouldn’t I make it a great journey no matter where my feet landed?

I have to admit he is right, I am that kind of person. It is all about the journey for me, all about the people I will meet, the knowledge I will gain, the sense of pride I will feel in what I have accomplished. He told me that if he were me, he would start to move forward with his 2nd choice school. I told him that I had already started that by filling out housing, doing a visitation, and reconciling myself to attend UCSD.

The only caveat…I wanted that sense of family that USC offers. The opportunity to be a Trojan, to see Traveler at football games, to smile every time I see the statue of Tommy, and to promise to not wear blue and gold at the same time for at least four years. That is what I will be missing, very few schools offer that above and beyond the education they give you. I soooo wanted to be a part of the Trojan family.

I found out yesterday that my mailman is more than just Ben. He is my friend. I also found out that my friend Ben is a Princeton grad who was laid off his job two years ago and LOVES working as a postman because of the people he meets on his route.

any word from the Richards of the us postal service yesterday???

just love this thread!

I second Ben!!!

Awww, thanks Alamemommy that makes me feel good.

i agree w/ mom and ben too hahah

and that was a sweet story - ben sounds awesome

yeah true that… to prospective students next year a possible personal statement topic… “How each person has their own story”… I myself was a janitor this past summer and everybody treated me like I was incompetent and I absolutely loved it… Most people assumed I was bottom of the barrel but I knew in my head the real truth… Its always interesting to learn peoples stories because every person has their own unique life and oftentimes are eager to share it…

That is a great idea. I am very lucky that some of the applicants who post on the USC forum regularly have PM’d to share some bits of their stories with me - so I can say with authority that all of you are so much more than the “stats” you list on your chance threads. You are an amazing bunch!

hahaha aw everyones so cute on this thread :p

i love how nice everyone is on the USC threads - most other schools people are just competitive and bitter

but randy thats sooo so so true. i definitely have had some amazing experiences in discovering people’s stories and such

The USC forum is honestly the best forum here on CC.

One time I posted a thread on the UCLA forum (which already has weird strict rules) asking if I could send rec letters even though the site said they don’t “solicit” them. I was used to the nice people here so I figured someone would answer my question fairly quickly with a nice detailed explanation.

Every response I got was basically “W T F can you not read or are you just stupid?” and, being the petulant child that I am, I just told them to all go die in a fire.

:D

All of the other forums I look at (namely NYU, Carnegie Mellon, Northwestern) usually have 0 new threads and no one there really knows each other.

I agree. The only thread that turned mean was “Bored student answers questions”. I was really tired and did not phrase my question grammatically perfect and he made a snide remark. That was the last time that I posted on the thread.

I just hope that we all receive good news this coming week. I just checked and I am still forwarded.
I feel like I am in “forwarded purgatory”… UCSB will let everyone know tomorrow at 4PM. Berkeley will reveal their admits on Thursday. I was asked to apply for a Presidential Leadership Scholarship by the Cal Alumni Assocaition, so I did. Last week, I received an email asking my parents and I to come for an overnight weekend if I accept to go to Berkeley. I keep thinking, “Why would they send me this if I wasn’t getting in?”

I much prefer USC over Berekely. Anyone else have any thoughts? I’m really trying to stay positive…It is comforting to know that I am not alone in my misery. :)

@ werty1992
I received the same e-mail’s from the Cal Alumni Association and I think the overnight e-mail to which you were referring to was sent to all who applied for the Presidential Leadership Scholarship.
I definitely agree with you though USC over Berkeley!!

^ I’d actually go with Cal over USC, but I would be honored to get accepted to both. I would only chose Cal because they have a better polisci program and I like the location more, otherwise USC seems nicer. Anyways, I got that email as well and it really angered me because I thought it meant something. I then realized they sent it to everyone. Ugh.

werty - im waiting on ucsb too sooooooo glad to have a CONCRETE time that i will find out a decision. usc is killing me… haha like most of us. either way tho - berkeley and usc are both awesome schools and you’ll have an amazing time at either one. USC is still kiiinda the best tho
heh

and dream - USC really is the best CC forum… just today i started really looking around some other ones… and most of them were really quiet. but on UCSB people were so angry and like rude to each other for the weirdest things. hahaha i was wayy surprised after spending most of my time with the usc fam :)

btw… sundays are THE WORST day of the week = no mail = a solid 24 hours of agonizing waiting time
