My mailman's name is Richard

Long Island.

screamer…USD is an incredible school. Everyone I know that has gone there LOVES it and has gotten really good job offers. Great education.

I heard a knock on the door a half hour ago and opened it to see Ben. He stood there with a sad look on his face and told me that he wanted me to know what a good kid I was. He said my laugh reminded him of his daughter. He then handed my my “little” envelope and a rose he must have picked from someone’s yard along his route. He told my mom how sorry he was, but that he was sure there wasn’t anything I couldn’t do.

Ben called me a super star and said he felt that not many kids my age were as kind as me and had my act together quite so much. Then he said he had to hurry and go because he went off his route to bring me the letter because he knew I was so anxious. He needed to get back to his regular route.

What a nice man. He made my day. I will succeed, he is right about that.

awwww i wish ben was my mailman. hes right though, you’ll go far  im really sorry tornados!

Thanks CaliBoundSB, my heart is broken, but I will be fine. Maybe cardinal and gold are just not my colors lol.

@tornados - that is the best mailman story yet. :)

tornados… thanks.

For those of you waiting for the mail carrier over the next few days, here is a FUN thread from last year written by one of our very clever posters, Wheaty. Read through it to pass the time (and have cookies ready for **your **mail carrier!!!).

Good luck!

Thanks so much for bumping! Total time waste but hilarious!

Now, where’s Bruce and his LLV?

(That’s “Long Life Vehicle” for those aren’t in the know – the name of those white square trucks they all drive now)

Aww! I loved reading this, if nothing else it calmed my nerves and served as an escape from a particularly uninteresting biology essay.

My mail man is rather elusive. I’ve maybe seen him 5 times and only heard him speak once or twice. Of course, I’ve rarely been outside to get the mail over these past 13 years at my house, so I can’t say to much except that I hope he has no vendetta against me.

Here’s hoping he walks up to the door tomorrow with a large envelope. (Or he can somehow fit in in my mailbox…) I don’t think anyone will be home. I may have to skip after school activities….

@PhotoMac: You’re lucky that your mail man actually brings the mail directly to your door! Lol I didn’t even know that they still did that. Lucky. :D. My “mail man” where I live is actually a woman, I think, and I have to walk down the street to my mailbox everyday to get it. It really isn’t far at all, but I always feel like there’s too much effort involved in getting the mail. Except for these past few weeks, with admissions decisions being sent and all. My mail never comes until really late in the afternoon, which sucks because the suspense heightens my anxiety and nervousness! My fingers are crossed that I will get a nice big envelope soon! :)

This is an older post about individuals and how they cope with the long wait for admissions decisions.

Thanks for bumping some of our more amusing past threads, alamemom. I’ve really enjoyed the “community” of USC applicants and parents that hang around this forum to share the drama: nerves, suspense, excitement and even, sadly, disappointments.

We wish you all the luck, applicants for class of 2016 and parents.

Hey I remember this post!

Hmmm, maybe it’s time for a better attempt? I wonder what it might be??? :)

Go, wheaty, go!

I dunno… it would be quite a challenge to improve on a classic like this! I can’t wait to see what you come up with (and remember, cookies are to be prettily presented with affection, not LAUNCHED!!!).

Brought forward for those waiting in 2012…

Bump! This is a very amusing and entertaining thread! I read through all the posts and hilarious stories people had about their mailmen/mail-women and this has brighten up my mood and day! I love the warmth the USC forums have! IMO, USC’s forum is the best in CC! :D

Wheaty-you definitely get the award for the best thread all year!

Hmmmmmm. “Don’t slingshot the mailman with ice cubes” or “Don’t kill the messenger”? Ice cubes, hands down. GL
