My son will not wear a scarf.....

H runs cold, and wears long underwear and a fleece vest to work, but he only wears his cashmere scarf for dress.
Sherlock as played by Benedict Cumberbatch not withstanding, I don’t see most men wearing scarves, even fleece neck warmers when skiing.
Oldests Bf wont even wear a hat!

My son wore gloves to school for the first time today. He also wore his heavy winter jacket instead of a hoodie for once. (granted, he gets dropped off about 100 yards from school, but he needs to walk a few blocks after school to where I pick him up). He doesn’t own a scarf.

One of his classmates stopped wearing shorts just before Christmas.

I was amazed at the lack of cold weather clothing some of the HS kids were wearing today a few blocks from school when it was 1F. The wind didn’t pick up until later in the morning.

Here is a guy wearing a scarf (but nothing on his forearms) in cold weather:

My son (at college in VT) not only wears a scarf but ASKED for a second one for Christmas. I was happy to oblige.

Too bad. I love scarfs. They definitely keep me warm. I think men look really good in the winter with a dark dress coat and a bright scarf. Very nice.

NH born and bred and I hate scarves! I will wear a fleece neck warmer tube when shoveling or skiing. I rarely wear a hat, gloves or boots, except when shoveling or skiing! I just shove my hands in my coat pockets. I do love my flannel lined jeans though!

Kids around here wear shorts and sandals until it gets below 40F, but they wear wool beanies year round!

My wonderful son just got home from feeding a friends cat. he was wearing a hoodie, shorts, sandals and his new beanie I got him for Christmas. We’re in Northern Virginia and it’s 15 degrees outside…go figure.

Although he will never wear a scarf, he loves this beanie:

he says it keeps his face warm… ;)

Son went to school in NW PA and now lives in Pittsburgh, he always has shorts and sandals on unless he is working. Glad to see he is not the only one. But what is funny, he owns six fleece blankets to sleep with!!! None of it makes sense.

And then there’s the hat issue with girls…D was running around single-digit NYC today hatless (because hat head, ya know). She babysat in the afternoon, and the mother was so upset to see her ready to leave their home with nothing on her head that she insisted she walk out wearing one of her 7 year old’s ski caps. Would have loved to see that!

Your son will figure it out. Some people like scarves and others just don’t.

Over the weekend my daughter’s college sent out an email warning the students about how cold it was and telling them to wear proper footwear not flip flops! I am sure there were students in the freezing Boston blizzard with flip flops on!

I guess I am not alone…hahaha…I’m just not going to show any sympathy when he tells me he is sick (sigh)

I had a friend who refused to wear a hat, and he was going bald early. We’d go to freezing cold college football games, and forget it, no hat! I had brought extra scarves and he WOULD wear them, wrapped around his head and looking quite idiotic, but he wouldn’t take my extra hat.

Your son could wear this hat and he wouldn’t need a scarf!

We just returned from Barcelona where many, possibly a majority, of the men wore scarves. It was around 14C/58F.

I’m in northern Indiana. I am putting my thinking cap on and trying to remember, but I can’t remember seeing guys (young or old) wearing scarves. My sons are 23 and 25, work outdoors and would never wear a scarf. They will wear the neck-ups in bitter cold. Heck, I don’t wear scarves either. They make me claustrophobic.

greenwitch, my son has a viking beard hat like that. He crocheted it himself. :p

But he doesn’t wear it!

^^wow! He should wear it with pride.

My H has one, but it is the smaller blond version and he breaks it out occasionally at parties. The dog gets confused!

i wore my scarf today!

I am happy to wear a scarf to keep warm when needed… but I don’t wear it as a fashion piece like the people in Barcelona (of course, I don’t wear anything else as a fashion piece either…)

Buy him a neck warmer/gaiter. Maybe he’ll wear that instead.
