Napa vs. Sonoma

On our most recent trip to the wine country, we stayed in Sonoma. Instead of doing several wine tastings, we decided to play it by ear and went to the Sonoma Botanical Gardens. Took us less than 15 minutes to get there from the center of town. Surprisingly, we’ve never been there even though we like to hike in the Jack London Park which is nearby. Turns out, the gardens are very beautiful even though many plants have finished blooming! We saw a lotus in bloom (and a tree that doesn’t have a big bloom often) and walked the many trails through the garden. And there was an art installation in the gardens which I believe will be there until some day in September. Highly recommend!

Then we drove back to Sonoma and stopped at a winery that had signs “pizzas” and “walk ins welcome.” B.R. Cohn. Wine tasting followed by a glass of our favorite one with the freshly baked pizza while watching a local band perform! The original owner was a manager for the Doobie Brothers, hence the music-themed decor and a concert venue.

That’s just gorgeous. I can’t wait! I booked a tasting and Tapas at Gloria Ferrer for the views and proximity to Napa and Sonoma square where we’ll go afterwards. They do sparkling wines, which may be a nice change of pace.

Sounds great! One more thing: make sure to bring a light jacket or a wrap because night time temperatures can dip into the fifties! And rapidly, as soon as the sun sets, especially if there is some wind.

Thanks! Will definitely do! I just can’t wait. We’ve been wanting to do this for a very long time. We just love California.
