As Saturday was ‘26 days to Herndon,’ it was our (26th Co.'s) job to pull some antics or whatever in celebration. We figured that because it was a Saturday, not too many mids would be on the yard to see our handiwork, so we planned for a recon to St. Johns.

After appropriately ‘decorating’ Herndon, we maneuvered around to the back of the St. Johns campus. After successfully avoiding several drunk ‘johnnies,’ we made our way to the field where they play the match. We made it to where we intended to hang two banners, but were compromised by two inebriated johnnies who were partying in the building across the field. We gave up being stealthy and just asked if we could hang the banners. They didn’t object.

More of them came out and we ended up talking to them for a few minutes. Myself and two others remained focused on the task at hand and got the other banner up. One was a ‘Beat St. Johns’ and the other a ‘26 Days’ banner. Needless to say, they were gone before the match started, unfortunately.

We encountered no hostility whatsoever, but one girl tried to press her ‘even-my-fingernails-are-anti-war’ attitude on one of my classmates…and he ended up getting her phone number…but that’s a different matter. They were still decent folk, from what I experienced…but the Brigade’s attitude toward them still hasn’t changed much, I’m sure. You should have heard the roar in King-Dahlgren at lunch when the Croquet captain spoke.
