NBC News Story

The Decision Day is for ADMITTED students. It’s not a mistake and it’s not outrageous to put “Congratulations!” on a page for admitted students. The problem is not that the page said congratulations, but rather that the students were able to access this page when they were denied.

I wish this newscaster wasn’t so desperate for viewers that he said they “ripped up the admissions letter in front of your faces.” First of all, there was no admissions letter because they found out online. Second of all, Delaware never explicitly said they were admitted, the page for admitted students (where it makes sense to say “Congratulations!”) siad that.

This was an unfortunate glitch, but Delaware did not do anything wrong. Whether or not they saw that message does not change the fact that those people were denied.
