NC State 2024 Admission Thread

That’s great you heard already! My son is OOS for CS also. Hopefully we find out soon! My son’s stats are similar so you’re keeping us hopeful over here! OOS, 1410 one sitting, Eagle Scout, a lot of APs, ECc, and Volunteer work. Congratulations again!!

My daughter’s pack portal has the pay your enrollment deposit and congratulations on being accepted to NC State’s message. Her wolfpaw portal has not changed.

Does NC State release decisions differently for OOS and In-state applicants? Or do decision releases differ depending on your major? E.x. would they release STEM decisions earlier than other majors

@bash78 What is a “pack portal”? Is that different than Wolfpaw portal?

I believe it’s the portal for admitted/current NCSU students, where they can register for classes and pay their dues and stuff.

Yes, they are different. The wolf paw portal is the application portal, the pack portal is for admitted students, and currently enrolled students. My daughter applied for the Goodnight Scholars program so she had her unity ID which you need to apply for scholarships through PackAssist.

Does living in wake county hurt your chances? My son applied to engineering CS and I’m worried that being in wake county will negatively impact him. He has great stats…1450 sat, GPA 3.96/4.38, 31 act, 8 AP, 2 honor societies, with 2 jobs. Do you think he has a decent shot?
Congratulations to those that have been accepted already…so ready for decisions to come out!

hey guys, i applied early action and am getting so anxious haha. I am a resident of gaston county with a 3.8 gpa, 3.5 unweighted. Mostly A’s, some B’s, and 2 C’s in total high school career. 28 ACT, a few different clubs and volunteer activities. I have taken 8 dual enrollment classes at my local community college, and the rest of my classes have all been honors courses, with the exception of math. I am a female, a first gen college student, with financial need. Can anyone tell me what my chances may be?

  • Also, I have a feeling decisions will be released today 1/24 at 4.

@ahb34me Wake can hurt but your son’s numbers look great, I bet he will get in.

@user_415978 what major? Female and first gen help, good luck. Ihope you are right about today!

@ITBgirl Psychology first choice, Social work second! However when I looked back at my common app, I saw that for the supplemental questions, I never went back and finished them when I wrote them initially, so they are only partially answered. It has really been stressing me out and I am kicking myself for not going back over and checking before submitting!! I hope they can overlook it, and see it my essay that I can write well and am literate hahahaha.

I feel pretty strongly about today as well. Based off the past I believe they will released today. Fingers crossed though!

Has anyone been listed as “exploratory studies” in pack portal? CS Intent declared on Common App and listed in WolfPaws. Exploratory Studies seems like a ding on the chances of getting into CS or even COE. Great stats. Has anyone gone from ES to CS? ES is typically for undeclared majors, which is confusing since the intent was listed under the common app. Thinking a lack of Calculus may be the reason but could make up this summer. Don’t want to read too much into the designation as the official announcement hasn’t come out yet. Not looking at pack portal lol.

How do you get into Pack Portal? The only place my son can get into is Wolfpaw Portal and that doesn’t show anything new.

Go back to post #129(I think) and it is discussed. Pretty confusing and seems to be hit or miss as accurate. I would just wait it out as I believe today will be the day.
Good Luck

Has anyone noticed that the picture of the campus is no longer on the portal? There used to be a picture of the students walking on campus and it said “register to visit” underneath it (or something of that nature). It’s gone now, at least on my portal.

Same here. It’s gone

It is gone from my daughter’s portal too.

Same here for my son.

Mine is still there…uh…does that mean anything

My son is OOS and wanting Computer Science Engineering. I don’t even know what to think if he has a chance or not. 32 ACT, 1370 SAT, 4.723 weighted, 3.83 unweighted, lacrosse, lifeguard, mostly Honors classes with about 4 AP classes.
