In my opinion, attending a summer program indicates interest. It will not be a big play in the admissions decision.

My daughter attended the summer scholars program a few years ago. She applied to ND with an outstanding GPA full of AP and honors classes, with a 32 on the ACT. She was extremely involved in high school with lots of service and leadership. Also, she was at the 5th percentile in the senior class. She was waitlisted. (No legacy, minority status, etc.)

Eventually, she got off the waitlist and is now to be a junior at ND. Looking back, I do not believe her attendance at the summer program had much to do with the decision.

I believe about 1200 attend ND vision each summer, as well as about 250 summer scholars. There are some other programs as well. It is my belief that there are way too many students going through those summer programs to make much of a difference in an admissions decision. At best, it is a very small enhancement to what has to be an outstanding application. Good luck!
