Need Advice on Attire for Winter Wedding

Frankly, I never got the no black to weddings rule, because my entire life (growing up in Brooklyn and living in NJ), the majority of female wedding attendees at every wedding I have ever been to, have worn black. The term little black dress, always implied a fancy black dress for a formal occasion - like a wedding. I personally think I look terrible in black and never wear it (formal wear, everyday wear, or even to funerals.) As somebody else mentioned, lots of bridal parties wear black nowadays also. I vote for number 1 - as your favorite option.

I grew up with “no black at weddings”. That was reserved for funerals. But customs have changed over the years and now the “little black dress” and black for formal occasions including weddings is more the norm.

I think particularly for an evening wedding in January that black is just fine. Your sheer jacket sounds lovely.
