Need advice regarding driving to NYC

OP is helping his kid move to NYC. He has a car full of stuff.

OP again. We’re in Rye Brook getting ready to leave. The trip from Boston last night was one for the ages, highlighted by DS’s pitch perfect a capella rendition of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody”, complete with verbal guitar riffs, followed by S’s GF’s introduction to Meatloaf’s “Paradise by the Dashboard Lights”, one of DW’s all time favorites.

I’m realizing that booking an UES hotel would have made more sense but “oh well”. Here we go. Wish us luck!

Good luck!! Welcome to NYC!

: )

Often people find their first year a little challenging. By then they start to “get” the place and love it. Hopefully your DS and GF’s transition will be even faster. Let us (locals) know if they need any help finding anything–anything at all. I’m sure that we can help them find it. NYC seems to have everything if you know where to look.

Thanks everyone for all the help. It turned out to be much easier than I could have imagined. The traffic was light and we made the morning drive in less than 45 minutes. Compared to Boston, NYC drivers are pussycats. But the pedestrians, that’s another story…

There’s a parking garage 1/2 block away and their apartment is great.

Life is good.

Thanks again for all the help.

Glad you made it into the city easily. Good luck to your DS &GF.

In Boston, signaling before changing lanes gives away your intentions and just invites your opponent in the other lane to speed up to block your move. Better to change lanes and then signal to indicate victory.

True, and hilarious.
