Need help finding appropriate work shoes

Born has several styles that might work for her. I always think their shoes are comfortable.

Whatever shoe she chooses, I suggest she add a good inner sole, perhaps like one would put in an athletic/running shoe. She will be walking miles and miles and will need good, supportive shoes. A waitress friend of mine wore a pedometer at work and was amazed at the number of steps she took on an given shift!

Clarks has some shoes that are slip-ons that are very comfortable…they’re kind of like black tennis shoes without the athletic look and no laces.

One of Clark’s lines is called…Waves. There are a couple of Waves that don’t have laces/buckles,etc.

I think Lands’ End also has some.

Stephanie model of soft spot brand

Danskos are the best ever for being on your feet a lot. I wear them for teaching preschoolers. Is it mandatory that they have to be perfectly flat? I have some shoes called Wolkys that are very comfy too.

Although not new shoes, I have a pair of black flats - Enzos that are super-comfortable that I probably bought at either Macy’s or Lord & Taylor. My daughter picked up black flats this year that are French Sole, really comfortable from Lord & Taylor. I also have a pair of Trotters that I bought earlier this summer and are really comfortable and well-made that I bought from Nordstrom.com. Zappo’s is your friend-no shipping charges either way! We also buy from Piperlime, no shipping charges, at least for me with a Banana Republic charge card, Lord and Taylor.com and our local shoe store that has a strong online presence, Jildor.com.

If these Lands End shoes aren’t too casual she might consider them. I have several pair that are super comfortable for all day wear. Also, they are water resistant so would be great for a waitress job. I wear them to football games and other outdoor activities when it’s raining and my feet stay dry.

I would have normally mentioned Dansko too, and my D has those, but they are not flat (is that a requirement?).

Then, I was going to mention the flats that I just bought for myself and see that someone else mentioned them already…by Born…Adele model. Can get at Zappos, which also has free returns.
(PS…as I have this pair right here …just bought them…they are completely flat with no heel whatsoever…and seem very comfortable)

An update - despite all the brands mentioned in this thread, she found another brand no one thought of.

And the winner was…

[Dove - Black - Nurse Mates Womens](Dove | Nurse Mates)

And she got them ½ off because the shoe store she bought them at was having a sale. Buy one pair, get the second pair ½ off; she was also buying a pair of cross-trainers for the gym.

Those NurseMates were on the original Zappos search page I linked! I thought they might have a little bit too much heel/sole, but they do look just perfect from a comfort standpont.

From the picture, it does look like it has a heel, but when you see the shoe, the heel on the inside of the shoe dips below the point where the shoe and the heel meet on the outside, so it really is a flat once you put your foot in. If that makes sense.

I looked at so many pictures, and if they looked like they had a heel, I skipped over them. Now I’m wondering how many I skipped over that might have been constructed like the NurseMate!

I wear Riecker antistress shoes, though I actually like my Merrels better. [Rieker-Antistress Shoes - Free Shipping & Return Shipping - Shoebuy.com](http://www.shoebuy.com/rieker-antistress-shoes/p2.htm)

Teri, I’m glad that your D was able to find shoes that met the criteria. There are many styles of shoes that look like flats yet they have a tiny hidden wedge-like heel. If your D will be spending a lot of time on her feet, especially standing still, she would NOT want a completely flat shoe. I also recommend getting her a pair of shoe insoles by Superfeet (sold at REI and Nordstrom) - her feet will be much happier.

Here are a few more brands (just in case if she needs dressier looking comfy shoes in the future): Sofft (my personal favorite), AGL, Anyi Lu (sold at Nordstrom), and a pricey but oh so comfy Tod’s.
