Does this mean you hope to get significant additional funding from your small town scholarship network? If so…please check to be sure that those scholarships fund more than one year. Many local scholarships do not.
Not to mention that some schools will reduce their financial aid for any external scholarships a student receives. Some schools will eliminate any student loan and work study first, but OP has to read each school’s website to understand their external scholarship policy.
There is so much merit out there for a student like you.
For example, you’d get $28K off U of Alabama’s tuition and their costs show $49,188 - so you are $21K.
Miss. State, Ole Miss, Mizzou, Kansas, Kansas State and more would come in at a good price. Maybe U of SC, Florida State, Miami of Ohio and more. Purdue is another.
So you don’t need to tap your local network - these schools come through big time.
I will say - when I first read your description of what you are seeking, I didn’t think flagship - but rather a smaller school or even an LAC - where you could potentially pursue more passions.
A mid size like Rochester might be a good fit…they have an open curriculum. And there are LACs all over the country, some of which let you play around in different areas.
Just some thoughts.
But if you have a budget - $30K or the $70K you stated - you won’t need local scholarships to get you there if you choose your list wisely - and that could include Ohio State - which I’d deem a target for you (and your stats show very well for there but I’m not familiar with in state vs. out of state rates, etc.).
Good luck.
