Need help narrowing down my college list

This list is all over the place. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to your choices. I think you are focusing too much on the name brand of the schools instead of the actual programs/locations/social life of these schools. Have you been to visit all of these schools? IMO, LACs like Vassar, Amherst, and Williams don’t really belong on this list as they are outliers from some of the larger schools on your list. You also are applying to 5 of the ivy league schools, even though they are very different in nature. Depending on your academic record, if you are shooting for places like Harvard, schools like Emory, NYU, Toronto, and BC would be considered matches, but you have zero schools on your list besides UMass that are safeties. I think you need to rethink this list to determine what you are truly looking for in your college experience. Try to research places you will be happy and where you will fit in the most instead of the prestige or brand recognition of the school.

For safety schools, I think places like UVM, UMD, or PSU would be a good fit if your looking for larger schools. I would consider looking in Boston at Northeastern and BU as safeties as well. Schools like Villanova could be a good match school.

@tavernier23 Re: the scattered geographical locations. Previous commenters have noted that the small LACs seem like outliers but, as I told them, I was born and raised in a small New England town, so I love that kind of setting, yet I also have strong ties to NYC, so I like urban campuses too. I realize that my list is overly focused on prestige (as evidenced by the huge number of reaches); thank you for your match & safety suggestions. I’ll add Northeastern and University of Maryland College Park to my list.
