DH got me kitchen shears one year and it changed my life. Never underestimate the power of a small way to make life easier!
OP! Gardening gloves! Or a small hand hoe from any Ace Hardware. I agree that seeds can be tricky for new gardeners, but having gloves and a tool or two is always nice. (I tend to lose a trowel every year when I leave them outside and forget…)
A really, really good knife.
A gift card for dinner out
Tickets to a sporting event or something cultural. When our kids gave us tickets to a hockey game in the really good seats, there was no going back to the cheap ones.
A new suitcase with some travel accessories
I’m asking for new running shoes this year or maybe a new swimsuit for our Hawaii trip in January.
Aura Frame- got this last Christmas didn’t know if I’d like it but I set it up in the kitchen and it is entertaining with memories. Fun to add new photos.
As a gardener, I’d second the suggestion of garden gloves. Decent gardening tools make a big difference - one of my favorites is the “project shovel”, a small shovel perfect for digging holes for planting, etc. (Ace sells them.) Nice hand cream is always welcome after outdoor work.
What about cookbooks or a subscription to the NYT (or other) cooking app? Or even some cooking classes?
For travel, things like packing cubes, a great toiletry kit (Peak Design, for example), travel size toiletries or containers for them, a packable duffel as an extra bag for purchases, nice eye mask (Manta), good lightweight, packable rain jacket, plug adapters, heat tech underlayers from uniqlo, etc.
Memberships (museum, Audobon, theater, public garden) can be fun and an incentive to avail yourself of some interesting programming.
I feel like I have everything and then some, but I have been gifted with several of the items above and have been delighted.
