If she is close to Braintree or in Boston itself, I would be interested in having her work (for pay) once a week with my 17yo D who will not be taking French Sr year due to scheduling issues (and she already has 4 years of French). I am looking for someone to go out for coffee, meet in a library, etc and speak French for and hour or so to keep D fluent. PM me if your D is interested.
There are tons of restaurants in Boston.
Trip Advisor has an office there. Perhaps there would be a job there if interested.
My opinion…apply for a job…but don’t put in your application that you are only planning to stay for a year. Many employers already deal with this annually with the many college students who attend school in Boston.
A temp agency is a good idea also.
^^^ Agree. Things change and a year is a long time.
@Massmomm MA doesn’t require a license to sub. My niece was subbing before she got her bachelors degree (that was about 5 years ago). My sister got a one year permanent sub position without any college (10 years ago). While needing a bachelors degree might have (and should have) changed, I know a license is still not required. You could work every day of the school year around here if you sign up for one of the regional districts but again, I think it pays under $100/day.
Some other options:
Uber driver
Restaurant industry (waitress, bus, hostess) - always looking for people
Check craigslist for short-term gigs (teach her how to avoid scams first)
I’m sorry that I missed your D not wanting a nanny gig. My D feels the same way except she makes more money now if she nanny all day than substitute teaching.
