@NoVADad99, he goes whatever way his GPS tells him when he puts the option for no tolls on
I wish I had that option when I was young.
I really don’t know which way hesgoing, but he’s headed from Montgomery County ito NoVa.
There are only two bridges (and one very small ferry) that cross the Potomac to Montgomery Co. So it’s probably the American Legion bridge on the beltway which he can also get to via Rt 7 or I-66.
Yes, he definitely goes over The American Legion Bridge.
It’s kind of sad, but many kids just don’t really know the names of roads, even the main roads, like the beltway/495/95.
I’m guessing he’s taking Rt. 7.
I’m hoping once schools get out his commute will get a little shorter.
Ah, he’s crossing the American Legion. He won’t get below an hour in rush hour. It’s an ugly commute and no other way to get from Point A to Point B.
Ugh, how can you just delete completely?
Ah yes…trying to avoid traffic on or near the Beltway.
That just isn’t possible…in my experience.
It is if you drive at 6am on Sunday morning.
–but not if you are heading south on I-95 towards Richmond!
It is if you drive at 6am on Sunday morning.
S has flexibility with his job with the fed govt. he can go early and leave early, go late and leave late, or some combo to minimize his commute. He lives in Arlington and commutes to Reston, like many, many others. He generally seems to avoid tolls as well.
Sounds like your S has some options and is making thoughtful choices, weighing pros and cons.
Traffic will get better (at least in Montgomery County) once school is out.
My son has flexibility also. He just has to work 80 hours every 2 weeks.
It’s great when folks have flexibility so they can arrange their work to minimize traffic and around appointments and errands. I’m sure your S will figure it out and he’s sure lucky to be able to commute from home.
