Well the bigger OOS Publics came off because he decided LAC or at least a bit smaller and we think the experience will be better during Covid times at a smaller school.
Dickinson NPC was not good and Ursinus is a bit too small. PA schools in general were overwhelming to say the least, there are sooo many! His ideal school is 1-3 hours from home 2K+ student body w a solid business/math program. A D1 basketball scene would be icing on the cake. We have encouraged him to cast his net a bit more including a few 4-5 hour away schools but it’s his choice. We are in for a doozy with our next in line, he’s all about the west coast …so I should not be complaining!
St Joe’s in Philly? They’re giving tours so we went a few weeks ago. Really pretty campus, huge basketball scene. I forgot how many students - bigger than Susquehanna. I want to say about 5k undergrad? D has decided she wants bigger so she won’t apply, but she thought about it! (she’s also in at Susquehanna with big merit - I’m bummed she’s not interested!)
It’s very safe, on the outskirts of downtown Philly, so I guess urban, but off the main drag are gorgeous multi-milllion dollar homes. It’s called the Mainline, where the wealthy execs built homes because it’s off the mainline right into Philly. Campus itself was beautiful - gorgeous old stone buildings along the lines of Colgate, with lots of green areas. Busy road through campus, but walkways are built over so you don’t have to cross the actual street. Nice small school with big D1 basketball. They have good merit too.
