My sister has fragile health, and also some mental illness issues, including a very disordered sleep schedule. She will also neglect to see if I’ve called or texted. If I haven’t gotten contact for a couple days, I’ll check her FB page because she is a rampant article and meme sharer. Like scores a day. It’s a pretty good indication of when she was last up and functioning.
Also power outages can make it challenging to communicate. We’ve been having a LOT of power outages in the past 24 months. This current one has been for 30+ hours. Often I lose ability to have cell service too!
I know of several older people who have gotten iwatches just for this reason. They are not tech savvy, but their kids have set these up for them.
Meals on Wheels saved H’s father. He suffered a stroke and they found him.
My Apple Watch is a little too sensitive of falls for me (playing with dogs jumping up and down) but I think it is very valuable.
I called my mother daily to just say hi when she was 90’s to check on her, even when I was in France.
Yes, the Apple watch can be annoying when it asks if you’ve fallen (so far it’s always ben a false alarm for me). It is useful though.
