If you are from the Budhanilkantha School, your chances are probably very good. Swarthmore accepts 2 or 3 students each year from this school in Nepal. One of this year’s freshmen from Katmandu is in my daughter’s Physics study group.

Here is a link to current Swarthmore students who serve as “international ambassadors” for the admissions office.

The Nepalese student’s e-mail is listed. I suggest that you e-mail him for specific information on Nepalese international apps along with any specific questions about what it’s like to move halfway around the world from Katmandu to the Village of Swarthmore! I believe that Swarthmore would be a very comfortable, friendly place for a student making that kind of transition – more so than most US colleges.

I don’t know for sure, but I have strong suspicion that the bulk of international acceptances come from a small number of schools around the world that have relationships with US colleges. The placements in top US schools from Budhanilkantha in Nepal are astonishing and very consistent from year to year.
