Are you thinking she will get merit aid at A NESCAC ? Because that is unlikely. You should be prepared to be offered what the NPC shows. If you need more, she is better off choosing D1 orD2 where she can get an athletic scholarship.
Agreed. Another option would be to target D3s that do offer merit scholarships, like Grinnell, Dickinson, etc.
What sport are we talking about?
Thanks for the suggestions. She does have some d3’s on her list that offer academic merit money (not NESCAC schools). The two that we’ve actually met with in person so far do not have that option. Seems like going a little further south or west will open up more opportunities. Hopefully when we meet with some of the others we’ll get more information.
It is true that going further south/west could open up more merit, but as for NESCACs Trinity College and Connecticut College do offer merit $…in case they might be a good athletic/academic fit.
The Harvard men are dominant
That was in the past. For example Harvard men beat Trinity a few weeks ago 8-1 and are number one ranked in the nation (Trinity is 2). Last year they also won the national championship. If you look at Harvard’s roster it is basically unbeatable. They now recruit foreign players which is what Trinity did to become so good for so many years.
Harvard women - undefeated in maybe 85 matches going back years. Also beat Trinity a few weeks ago 8-1. Five consecutive national championships.
Both teams undefeated last year and this.
So I stand by my statement.
