New 3.0 to 3.3 (GPA) Parents Thread

rodney, I will second you for more information…another facebook dummy here!

It’s finally decided and the winner is…(drumroll)…Marist! Son is thrilled and I am so happy - I think it is a great fit. Please post when decisions are made.

Congrats MaryAnn (and MaryAnn’s son) !

Great choice.

Re questions about Facebook: This video from the onion explains it all:

[Facebook, Twitter Revolutionizing How Parents Stalk Their College-Aged Kids | The Onion - America’s Finest News Source | Onion News Network](http://www.theonion.com/video/facebook-twitter-revolutionizing-how-parents-stalk,14364/)

Ha ha, that was pretty funny John.

MaryAnn, Congratulations!!!

John: yes, that video is a hoot…but what yabeyabe suggests is not stalking “our” kids…lol

maryann: congrats!!!

John that was hilarious.

Maryann, Congrats!

Being a Facebook dummy is usually a good thing, as you can save a great deal of time.

Yes, class pages are open to anyone with a Facebook account–I frankly do not remember if they are open to people without a facebook account (which is free0… On facebook.com, you put into the search feature “muhlenberg college, class of 2014” or its equivalent.

I actually have a Facebook page, much to my kid’s regret, and found it a good way to reconnect with some old friends–although the reconnection usually consists of one “What have you been up to since high school?” type exchange.

There is also a Facebook group “college confidential parents”.

“What have you been up to since high school?”

Exactly why I don’t have a Facebook account…my husband mistakingly opened one and his female friends are literally coming out of the woodwork…

I will try the anonymous search (or maybe have my daughter do it…)

John, absolutely hysterical. My D refused to FB friend her. when she went to Costa Rica on a 2 week exchange I asked her to do so for the trip. I wrote on her wall once and she accused me of FB stalking her!

John2698 - Really Funny.

Congrats, MaryAnn.
And very funny, John. I’ve seen that one before…there’s another really funny one here called My Mom’s on Facebook:
[YouTube - My Mom’s on Facebook](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_QePidL750)
Really funny :)

congrats Mary Ann!!1!

Congrats MaryAnn and to your S… Was he deferred from EA to regular decision or am I thinking of someone else? Just thought I would ask as this info could help someone else.

Facebook-I am on, two of my kids are my FB friends, two are not. The older college grads are my friends, the younger ones, 19 & 17, are not! I can’t blame them for that! Although if a relative makes a comment about FB re: the 19 & 17 year old, I have to reply “Well, I wouldn’t know that, they aren’t my FB friends.”

Congrats MaryAnn!! Marist looks like a great college!

Speaking of kids decisions, my oldest child (B student in HS, A student in College) was accepted at George Washington and Vanderbilt for Grad School and just decided to go to Vandy! Her college, Peabody School of Education, is currently the top ranked grad school in the nation. [Peabody College - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](Vanderbilt Peabody College of Education and Human Development - Wikipedia) Yay for B students finding their way!

CapeCodLady: watched the video, laughed snd shared it w/ all 3 of my kids

MaryAnn: When you all started talking about Marist months ago I looked at it and it made me hope S will look at schools in the NE!

YAY for kathiep’s D’s Vandy decision too!

Congrats to all

Wow, that’s awesome kathiep…Nice news all around,
but NO DECISIONS here yet!! Oye!

(*okay, I feel better now… ;))

SLUMOM - Yes, S was deferred fom EA then accepted Regular admission. Son wrote a letter, Guidance Counselor wrote a letter and additional teacher recommendation.

Kathiep, congratulations!

MaryAnn, I am so glad this all worked out for your son!

Congrats to Kathiep’s D!! H has reminded me I will be needing to mail a check to someplace, sometime in the near future, so I understand CCL…

That is really wonderful about Marist, Maryann, I remember you were kind of down about the deferred to RD thing, but it all worked out! YAY!
