New American Idol thread

Sad we have to wait a whole week to hear Adam perform again. Gigantic talent.

I’m afraid Scott is the new Megan…so likable but time to go.

curiouser, I NEVER remember Simon standing up for a performer before tonight. Wow, just wow.

If you go over to YouTube and search Adam Lambert you’ll find some amazing vocals, including his take on the JCS song “Heaven On Their Minds.” There’s also him doing “Dust in the Wind” and the song Alison did tonight, “I Can’t Make You Love Me.” His vocals are just so far superior to anyone who’s been on the show ever, but I guess he had pigeonholed himself as a “Broadway” performer and no label was willing to sign that sort of singer.

It is definitely Adam Lambert’s contest to lose. His song tonight was the best performance I have seen on American Idol. (I have only watched for three years, however). I liked how they used the lighting to enhance his presence on the stage.

He was absolutely brilliant tonight :OOOOO

[Adam Lambert April 7 “Mad World” American Idol Performance](The Bashhh! - Gossips, Scandals, Weird Stuff, American Idol, Videos, Pictures, Photos and More!: Adam Lambert April 7 "Mad World" American Idol Performance)

BUT remember to vote…dont make a mistake and think he’s safe…

I really liked Adam’s performance, but I’ll bet he is kicking himself about that last note. He’s probably a perfectionist and wishes he had a do over.

Edited to add - who knew Adam was a blonde?

Wow. Adam.

Heart-stopping.

Sealed the deal for me. Who can possibly top what he did?

bye bye Lil

Tears for Fears, Mad World. Best cover of it I’ve ever heard, including the live version I saw Tears for Fears play!

Adam’s rendition literally sent chills up my spine. he truly connected with the lyrics and THAT is what I think so many of the other contestants year in and year out miss on.

Very nice indeed.

I may even pop over to iTunes, and i have NEVER even considered doing so EVER, for ANY performance. Ever.

I’m giving a standing ovation as well!

Wow. I loved his Ring of Fire performance, but this was amazing.

Aaauugghhhh. On Tuesdays I come here to see what the East Coast has to say – but since the show went over, it didn’t record Adam. Thanks for the YouTube link.

Sorry to be missing the show tonight :frowning: I think Scott has got to go…

mimk6, there are some shows you just always need to add more time to the recording time. AI is one of those. They always go over. They let Paula babble until there is no time left for the last 2. So needs at least 10 extra minutes.

Missed the show. Thanks for the link!

The 4 judges are just too much. I’m glad Simon was able to be succient with regard to Adam and by giving him the SO the television audience got the message clearer than if Paula and gushed for 5 minutes.
I think Adam (of course) and Allison are at the top as far as talent. She does remind me of Clarkson but with much more stage presence (and at such an early age). I remember Clarkson used to just stand there with her hand on her belly and belt out the songs.
By the way: I think Adam had light redhair when he was young. With some freckles! A little bit Oppie.

I’ve always loved Gary Jules cover of Mad World but Adam’s performance last night was as close to perfect (with the possible exception of that final note that he pulled back) as I’ve seen it done. Just beautiful. His control is pretty amazing. It’s almost getting to be a little embarrassing because he is so far ahead of all of the other contestants.

I also enjoyed Anoop last night. He has a beautiful voice and does well if he sticks with the type of song that is the right fit for him. I really wasn’t all that impressed with any of the others, although Matt wasn’t bad. I thought Lil was awful and the comment that she wasn’t listening to the judges’ advice was spot on, she’s just not very smart. Although I really like Kris, I fear for him after that performance.

My bottom three - Lil, Scott, Danny. I’d send Lil home.

It’s a contest for 2nd place at this point. I actually had tears when Adam was singing. Phenominal, and a done deal if America keeps voting as well as we have been. (Not that I vote on AI.)

If it’s Lil (and I think it will be), will the judges save her?
