DS got an admit from ASU. There does not seem to be any merit aid info. We were expecting to know about the New American University Scholar - President’s Scholarship consideration. Is this info not released with the admit decision but later? Thanks!
According to the small print on their merit calculator page, it looks like they confirm after May - I inferred from the below that if they accept test scores until 1 May that they only finalize the numbers after that:
(Sorry I can’t somehow get the quote function to work but all below is from their site)
Admitted students are automatically reviewed for ASU merit scholarships through May 1.
New American University scholarships are awarded based on information submitted in your application for admission. We do not recalculate academic information (e.g. GPA or competency courses) for scholarship purposes after admission.
ASU merit scholarships are awarded based on a combination of your high school GPA in core competencies, the number of those competencies you have completed or have in progress, and the degree program, residency and campus that you’re admitted to. Your ACT or SAT scores are not required for award eligibility. Changes in degree program, residency or campus may result in a scholarship adjustment.
ACT or SAT scores are not required for scholarship eligibility but providing them may lead to increased scholarship awards. ASU must receive your test score(s) by May 1 in order for them to be considered.
Thank you. I’m confused because the scholarships page on the website states an early fall notification; since they just notified about his admittance and we have already submitted his SAT scores, I assumed that info would have come together. I guess we’ll wait a couple more weeks and see if it shows up.
Maybe contact them? It doesn’t seem super clear to me. I was looking because I wasn’t sure if there was any rush to submit SAT by a deadline, and the above was what I found.
It’s TO for admission but my kid’s SAT score bumps up the merit award by $4000. The deadline to submit scores for scholarship consideration is 1 May, as posted above.
Yeah actually may 1 is decision day so makes sense you’d know beforehand. Maybe they give a provisional one if scores not in, or for OP as everything submitted should be known for sure earlier. Looks like the president’s scholarship is the largest they give and the merit amounts are auto-calculated so one would know what to expect, but you’d definitely want it in writing before committing I would guess.
My recollection for S23 is that the merit was posted a few weeks after he received confirmation of admission. IIRC he applied in November. He definitely didn’t have to wait very long.
