Are you sure there is nothing (a sock for example) stuck between the drum and the metal frame? Last time my workhorse of a dryer made squealing noises it was an infant sock (grandchild). Pulled it out, problem solved.
I’ll try that! Thanks for the suggestion
When my dryer was making a loud noise, I googled it, ordered the suggested part, followed the YouTube directions to replace the part, and now it works perfectly. A dryer is surprisingly (to me) a pretty simple machine and easy to repair.
I had to get a new washer, and I thought not having a matched pair would really bother me (in laundry area between garage and kitchen). After a couple of days I didn’t notice at all. WHEN the dryer dies, I will buy the match to washer, but it’s fine for now.
I don’t think a mis-matched pair would bother me, and I don’t like to just add to the landfills, but when doing research when I needed a new washer, I learned that dryers are made size-wise to match the washer (not just for looks).
The washers now have a much higher capacity than my old one (which was big!) so I bought a set (figuring the 18 year old dryer would probably crap out sooner rather than later.
My friend did not buy a new dryer and an entire load from the washer won’t fit in the dryer.
I wash almost all of my clothes, but I don’t try many, so that wouldn’t be a problem for me, but I get what you’re saying.
