yes, I understand but WHY???

i mean its pretty obvious dude. you’re sending invitations out to 18 year old freshman to come to your household and get trashed. that is illegal.

there are facebook invites but normally by the lesser known frats so to get more people to come. the better frats more people will want to go to so they dont need to advertise.

not necessarily…I feel like good frats (like alpha delt) has such a big house they have a capacity for more people. I remember at the alpha delt party this weekend, there were not nearly enough people dancing…whereas a house like DU is alot smaller party area and would want to keep people out more

what can anyone say about lambda chi aalpha, dke, figi or phi sigma kappa

frats that have alot of open advertised parties

on the lower tiers except for fiji

lamda chi alpha- like CMB mentioned, they have alot of advertised party, from what i know the guys are generally pretty nice.
DKE- Date rape frat, supposingly. Idk, ive had good and bad experiences at the frat. Most of the guys I know are a little sketch
Fiji- We mentioned this before. They got a good pledge class last year and they are pretty well off (financially I hear). The guys here are sometimes considered more upper tier.
Phi Sig- Like fiji…just slightly lower regarded

lol dke is not a date rape frat in any sense. they are nice guys but sometimes they think they are cooler than they actually are…

dont spread rumors appleapple

yes, it’s generally a bad idea to go around alledging date rape.

idk what dkes deal is…

Fiji > Phi Sig > Lambda, in my opinion

idk, i had a friend that swore their punch was spiked…so I stopped going there after that. but again, who knows…she mightve just wanted drama

maybe your friend should learn to handle her liquor instead of making up rumors about fraternities, hm?

even if your friend really believes that and isn’t a moron with no sense of personal responsibility, who just drank too much, you shouldn’t go around saying stuff like that about any house unless you know for a fact that it’s true (if it were true, I’m sure Cornell would have them shut down preeetty quickly).

check this out:

[Fraternity for Everyone](http://www.fraternityforeveryone.com)

it’s all about cornell fraternities. people at cornell generally know there really is a fraternity for everyone because i think there’s more than 40

Hi. I was just wondering if people could tell me about Sig Phi. They are listed as 3rd tier on the front page but from I’ve seen they seem better. Do they have any reputations or stereotypes? Does anyone have any experience with them or would like to confirm the “3rd tier” or disprove it? ps I know each frat is for different people and it’s bad to judge and all that but if you could please answer it would REALLY help. Thanks so much!

bump pls

you are asking a really stupid question.

when you go through rush week, which i assure you will be one of the best weeks of your life, you’ll know exactly which frats are good/cool/reputable in a matter of days. you’re not going to get good information on a board like this where absolutely everyone is biased…especially when it comes to frats.

Well that was rude. Thank you very much I have been involved with rushing that house among others and just wanted to know how the hell it was ranked 3rd tier.

ajp87 wasn’t being rude… just honest.

The “rankings” of fraternities and sororities on this board are skewed, because you have student members of these organizations using CC as a public relations tool for certain houses with a random ranking system. College Confidential boards are for the most part, a great way to network and to learn about various colleges and universities. However, with regards to fraternity and sorority advice - it is entirely skewed by whoever decides to post on these boards. For instance, a few weeks before Rush Week in January, you commonly have new posters popping up on this board to give “rankings”… it’s usually pretty easy to narrow down which houses they are coming from. Knocking other houses to attract members to your own house is a form of “dirty rushing”. You truly have to find which house feels like a good fit for you, and not worry about what some stranger things about it on a public message board. It sounds as though you have found a good fit in Sig Phi.

Sig Phi is regarded as upper tier, for the record though.

i wouldn’t say its upper tier, but it is by no means a bad place. i’ve partied there a few times and always had a good time.

on another note, you probably aren’t going to survive being in a frat house if me saying “thats a stupid question” is offensive to you/you think its rude. i think you’re in for a “rude” awakening if you are really that sensitive.

correct Sigma Phi is one of the top houses at Cornell. I’m pretty sure the Cornell chapter was founded by A.D. White himself. They have numerous rich and successful alumni such as the Bartels family (which Bartels Hall is named after). They usually keep their pledge class under 14 people and every room in the house is a single. They mix with top sororities such as Kappa and DG and do not have many big open parties (which is why many freshmen haven’t heard of the house). Howver, they are a top house and many of the brothers are extremely rich and come from successful families. That’s pretty much all I know about Sig Phi.
