New lows in public behavior....

Hayden, that would make sense. I’ll see if I observe it at all. However, she was sitting next to me, not standing and she was so rude when I gave it back. If she had asked or said thank you when I handed it back, the incident wouldn’t have even registered on my radar.

She was a very young woman, most likely a freshman. I told quite a few friends who went to undergrad there abd they all agreed it was rude so it doesn’t seem like that tradition is there anymore but I’ll definitely look for it!

I rode the city bus home in high school, and I used to be able to tell a lot about a boy by whether or not he offered his seat to an older person, male or female. I used to offer my seat to older people too, if necessary.

RGE, sounds like the tradition died. What a shame.

Now this is an opening to rant about the younger generation’s not having the same level of manners we did when I was young. So I"ll just sigh, keep my rant to myself and move on. Hope you’re enjoying AA so far. Good luck with med school!

We belong to a Conservative synagogue and our High Holiday services routinely run 4 1/2-5 hours. That’s just how it is. We are routinely there for 4+ hours of the service. On Thursday, we arrived at the same time as some friends. The husband had knee surgery a little over a week ago and was walking with a cane. He sat down at the end of a row and at times would use a second chair to prop up his leg. He was clearly uncomfortable. Later in the service I noticed that he had left and there were some strapping young men, maybe 25 years old, sitting in his place. I found out from his wife during the next day’s services that one of the young men TOOK the second chair from her husband for his own use. Our friend could not sit any longer without having that extra chair to prop his leg up. There were plenty of extra chairs scattered around the room. If I had seen and known about this, I would have engaged in a new low of behavior.

That is REALLY low …

“I thought this was a thread about Miley Cyrus. But then I realized she’s already got her own thread.”

Nah, there was nothing new about what she did. Costuming, venue, choreography – nothing.

My family used to go to the same Mass most Sundays and we usually sat in the same corner spot of the church. There was another family that used to sit in the same general area, but they sat on the aisle end of pew and would never scoot down to let others slide into pew without having to squirm and step past them…we called them ‘the pew hogger’ family! Well, my mom injured her foot and had to wear a big, full blown plaster cast on her foot for a couple of weeks and when she went to Sunday Mass the pew hoggers still wouldn’t slide down pew or get out of way to let my mom in the pew…she had to climb over them with her big cast. Mom made sure passing by ‘pew hoggers’ she crushed as many of their toes and feet with her big cast’s built-up heel and made sure she ground her casted heel extra special into the ring leader pew hogger dad’s foot.
