Oh, this is really interesting. Victoria Bussert (who built the nationally-recognized program at Baldwin Wallace) will be the head of the program at Oberlin, and looks like she’s taking some BW faculty with her. This is a big change and I’m curious to how BW will maintain its pedigree without her, as so much of the program’s success can be tied directly to her.
With these faculty appointments, I would expect Oberlin’s program to be quite similar to BW’s and certainly similar in selectivity. It’s interesting that on the page that the OP listed, that Oberlin is actively seeking expressions of interest from potential transfer students (not necessarily something that happens a lot in MT)–I wonder if Bussert expects some of her BW students to follow her to Oberlin. It’s interesting, because those two schools have VERY different academic profiles…
