They call them streetcars. Not cable cars or trolleys. Streetcars.
Do Commander’s for lunch, not dinner. Huge difference in price. I’ve heard that Commander’s has gone down hill las @gouf78 reports but it’s been years since I lived in NOLA for first hand advice. You must get a shrimp or oyster Po-boy at any of the great locations. Hit Yelp. NOLA is know for great food at dives, not just elegant restaurants. I recomend Mike Serio’s Po Boys. Mothers has a great reputation but also huge lines.
Johnny’s for poboys. Yum.
Whitney Plantation is new and the focus is entirely on the experience of the slaves. Haven’t been yet but I’ve heard it’s very good. But no doubt kind of a downer.
The Whitney is very good. Not so much a downer as a very somber and thought provoking experience.
Yes, as in Streetcar named desire. Apparently Tennessee Willaims was living there when he wrote it in NOLA. There was a town called Desire. He lived right off the track for the streetcar that went to Desire.
I found taking tours were both inteeresting and helpful in naviagting the city.
