Lol no, Persians are not URM. Basically its African Americans, American Indians, and I think some part Latinos. The TAP for Berkeley isn’t like UCLA where you can just sign it, you have to meet the requirements I posted earlier. You don’t take specific TAP classes for it either.

Erikuh: lol True… We would’ve been URM 20 years ago though.

Just so that you guys are aware, I was accepted into Berkeley’s TAP program and I am as white as they come (almost full Irish). I made $19k in 2008 and I am a independent student (28 years old). They are basically looking for people with very high GPAs and for people that wouldn’t normally have the resources/opportunity to go to a school like Berkeley. If your school is affiliated, just apply and see what happens. I am pretty much convinced that the reason I was accepted is because I am a TAP student.

OK, so my plan for this fall is fulfilling my required math course(statistics), my last pre req. for my major (anthro.), my second/last required English course (Critical thinking), and my lab science requirement (Physical Science), and maybe an 8 week course (psychology)-that can give me one last opportunity to raise my GPA for my UC apps. That would give me 14 units, or 17 if i decide to take that additional 8 week course.

The question is: how imperative is it that i finish my IGETC requirements this fall during the application process? Should i maybe move my Lab science to next spring to lighten my work load and ensure A’s for the fall, or should i spread it out a little. My only concern is the UC’s wanting to see my IGETC in the process of being finished, but i want to make sure I will get A’s too. Thoughts!!!??? I hope you are able to follow this, i appreciate any advice.

BTW: I’m an anthro major with a 3.4 wanting to transfer to UCLA.

jbustos: You can put off the lab science til Spring. I know two of my friends (going to UCLA and Cal Spring) put off their physical science requirement til then.

If you want to boost up your gpa in Fall you can, but I wouldn’t take a fluff class. And make sure you DON’T fail that science class during the Spring.

Have you done biological anthro yet? You could do the lab with that, plus it’s a pre-requisite.

Either way, hopefully we’ll both get into UCLA Anthro together :D

Erikuh, i’m taking my physical anthro. this summer, then archaeology this fall. I’m also taking statistics, english110, abnormal psych., & intro to psych. in the fall. That will leave me with only my lab science left for the spring as far as my IGETC and pre-reqs go. I can take it nice and easy and focus in on that lab, should be good.

I want to fast forward to next spring already!

My name is Yuna and I am a fall '10 transfer as a Psychology major. I am hoping to get into Cal! nice that this has started already…thank you! Can’t wait until October to start the application process~

I have a board position in a club I enjoy and my classes are either 8-12:30 or 8-10:50 rather than the 9:30AM-9:45PM tuesday/thursday torture I have right now.

Also, everyone should watch the new Pixar movie, “Up”. It was really good // Toy Story 3 is coming out NEXT YEAR! haha…I’m still a little kid when it comes to these movies.
