Interesting, they have changed the label structure of the room types just in a couple weeks since were there there. When we booked they either called rooms “Canada falls view” or “US/Canada falls views.” Now they seem to use Partial View of Falls for what used to be Canada Falls view and “View of Niagara and American Falls” for what as "US/Canada Falls views. We booked a standard room of the latter – what you would see as “Niagara and American Falls.” Then at check-in I said I wanted to be as close to the center point corner as possible as they offered the upgrade to the Presidential Suite which is literally the corner on each floor. It is possible that those rooms will be sold out in peak summer season. We intentionally went early June to beat the summer crowds and get better rates (though we ended up sharing with a million school field trips).
The new description is probably somewhat more accurate, though still deceptive. There is no “Niagara Falls” There are three falls that collectively are informally knows as Niagara Falls – 1) Horseshoe Falls which is what they are calling Niagara Falls and is the one you think of and is also the "Canada Falls even though part of it is on the US side, 2) American Falls and 3) Bridal Veil Falls, which from a distance most people think of as just part of American Falls. The embassy Suites is situation on a ridge directly in line with where Horseshoe Falls drops and was built at a 45 degree angle to the falls/river. So if you are on one side of the hotel you are facing southeast and will see Horseshoe Falls if you look out your window to the left, and also see the Marriott and a lot of the river before the drop. If you are on the other side you are at a angle looking northeast and can see the American Falls in the distance pretty straight on and Horseshoe Falls at a angle to your right. You would also see the Casino tower. The corner rooms on the other hand look straight on Horseshoe Falls with the American Falls in the distance to the left but with a curved panoramic window view.
I really like the falls. We enjoyed the Butterfly Conservatory, Maid of the Mist, and the Power Station tour. We also like walking around without any plan or agenda. I think 5 days was 1 day too many for my husband, but I didn’t mind.
We liked the car for the ability to drive to Trios Winery and Niagra on the Lake. Our parking was included with the hotel, so no extra charge. We stayed at a Wyndham hotel—it was new or newly refurbished at the time. It was a short walk to the falls.
Thank you everyone for your wonderful suggestions . Just got back from Niagara Falls (Canadian side!) and it was a really wonderful trip. I especially enjoyed the boat ride to the falls and the whitewater walk!!
And thanks to @citivas , I booked a hotel room with a view of the falls and it was magnificent! (I chose The Oakes hotel which had a lower price point than many of its competitors but which was still a very nice hotel and had a phenomenal view.)
The first photo is from the hotel room. The second photo is from the boat ride.
