And they take forever to dry off….. That canopy is HUGE if you leave it open in your office or workspace– and if you don’t have room to leave it open, that thing will be a soggy mess by the time you need to go home!
One of my local boba shops sells cool Japanese umbrellas that fold the other direction. Wonder if they would like something like that. I am still rocking my UNC umbrella that is probably 40 years old.

I just ordered my Philly kid this compact umbrella. We felt compact made more sense with her lifestyle of walking and urban transportation. We also did not want to invest in an expensive option as it very well may end up left on a bus or Uber.

Costco sells great compact (about 1’ long folded) umbrellas.
For tiny umbrellas, you can’t go wrong with Totes.
Museum shops often have interesting high-quality umbrellas in the style of one’s favorite visual artist.
Last month in Japan, I picked up half a dozen ultra-light UV compact umbrellas for gifts. They barely weigh anything, work great as parasols, and are perfect for those “will it rain or won’t it?” days. They are excellent for urban dwellers who take public transportation because of its weight (~4oz). I have other umbrellas that are stronger for those really rainy and windy days.
