Ditto South Orange/Maplewood…I have worked at Columbia High School; excellent education; very diverse; great college admissions (if that is important)…

Midtown direct train, great restaurants…diverse not just in terms of race, but also religion, employment, LGBT…really runs the gamet…

If they plan to commute by train into NYC, it will be much easier if they do not have to change train lines to get there. Look at the NJTransit site and their map of the various lines with towns served. Some go directly into NYC, others require a change to a different NJT or the Path line in Newark (which would be best if they will be working in lower Manhattan). Edison and Metuchen are fairly diverse, but diversity in NJ refers to Asian and Hispanic as well as black. Montgomery has no easy transportation into the city. Requires drive to Princeton Junction or New Brunswick, where parking is expensive if available.
