Being in an honors program may give some additional perks at the college which could improve the experience (or may not, if it comes with additional required courses that the student is not interested in). It really varies from one college to another, so the student should check whether the honors program at the specific college is of benefit enough to matter in choosing between it and some other college (with or without an honors program).
