For those of us still waiting for the high school to acknowledge a prestigious national honor – maybe it’ll happen today? Pretty weird for students to find out from a press release.

S received verbal notification yesterday afternoon. The school changed principals over the summer, so the GC thinks the packet might have gone astray because it was addressed to the old principal. She called NMSC yesterday afternoon and then told S. She said she has to set up the school’s profile since S is the first one ever there, and once that’s done she can give him his letter.
He should get the letter today. 
Folks be very careful about announcing that your child is a NMSF Our DS (now a senior in college) earned the finalist honor. The letter your child will receive from the school specifically says this is confidential information and they are to tell no one. Not sure if it would hurt someone’s chances of becoming a finalist, but not something I would want to find out the hard way!
@cwgbread, as of yesterday, it is public knowledge, there is no confidentiality.
@cwgbread it was confidential until 9/13 when NMSC made the public announcement. No longer is.
Yep, my S’s name and picture are already out there in his school newsletter, plus of course the full Texas list is now publicly available. Definitely no longer confidential info so feel free to blast it on social media or wherever you want.

Would anyone know what the 3 digit number next to the students name is?
@MamaBearSCS I’m pretty sure it is the interest inventory the student selected. Like Arts, history, medical, pharmacy, engineering etc. Just what interest the student thinks they will study in college. You can search on line to see what the code means.
