I stayed at Penn State one very humid summer - at a frat that rented out rooms, in a room that was in the middle of the house, with one small window and no cross breeze. I love air conditioning, but we did fine with fans. The dorms have to be better than that. I don’t think it will be as bad as you think. And if you really want to go to PSU, six weeks with a fan isn’t a deal-breaker (unless you have allergies that open windows/no air conditioning would make much worse.)
