No calculators at ND???

It was allowed in 10550

Is it true that AP Cal AB will fulfill the 1 semester of cal for business majors and AP Cal BC will fulfill the cal requirement forbusiness major? Also do current ND students, who are business major, think it is a good idea to skip Cal I and Cal II for business if i pass the BC. Because i dont feel high school cal will prepare me enough for College. I could probably pass the BC test through intense study ( got a 4 last year on AB), but i would like to heard from current business majors.

for the posts about it being possible to do sin, cos, tan and functions, of course it is possible. If it were not possible, then how do you explain how they were working these problems before the invention of a calculator.

Luckily, our Calculus teacher has shown us how to use a slide rule to help do the math problems without the use of a calculator. Also, i’ve nver been a fan of using calculators to do any type of math, i never feel like i quite understand whats going on if something else is doing my work for me.

bqwe04- AP calc AB will get you out of any one of the calc I classes and BC will get you out of calc II. Since you only have to go through calc II for the business major, it would probably make sense for you to try and get the AP credits. If you were planning on going any further and taking calc III or any math classes beyond calc II, you might not want to go into it with a weak background in BC, but since you won’t have to take any more math classes for business, it is worth a shot trying to test out. If you don’t make it, you’ll still probably have a better background going into calc II at ND. My roommate is a business major and she wasn’t able to test out of calc I, but, having taken AP calc AB in high school, she was a lot better prepared to take the class in college.

Also, to add to the list: MATH 20550 allowed calculators.
