No more dairy?

H can’t tolerate much lactose or ANY goat milk products. Fortunately, he is good with sorbet, coconut milk, soy milk, rice milk & almond milk. Because he has a thyroid problem, we limit his soy consumption.

Wow, I thought it was just me who had trouble with cow AND goat products. Practically made me cry when I realized that goat cheese was giving me a problem and I was going to have to give it up. I guess until now I didn’t realize there was a difference between a dairy allergy and a lactose allergy…

HImom, I was drinking a lot of soy milk when I first figured out I had to give up most dairy, and I had some thyroid issues. Had a nasty reaction to the medicine, too. :frowning: Then read a study from Johns Hopkins saying soy might be related to thyroid issues. Stopped using it, and thyroid symptoms abated. Fingers crossed that they stay away, too.

H never consumed much soy, but since he’s been on Synthroid for Hashimoto’s (following an infection), we’ve cut way back on soy in the household. We don’t really miss it much, but yes have read that soy can be related to thyroid issues. I also have read that folks with thyroid issues should avoid those scanners at TSA, so we opted for Global Entry and pre-check, where we can just go through the metal detectors instead of being patted down every time we fly.
