<p>I hope no one chooses a weaker high school so they can get a higher GPA- education matters
I have only heard of in-state Texas High School students who have done this (all were strongly
interested in UT, trying to maximize their chances). Another troubling observation - those who overdo
the GPA game where students try to maximize weighted GPA (minimize unweighted courses,
maximize most highly weighted courses. At a few public schools in the area it is hard
to make the top 7% (UT’s auto-admission cutoff these days - and review admits apparently have lower priority for majors which can fill early) without taking the right courses for GPA (not necessarily the best courses for the student).</p>
