Can anyone confirm that the non-resident surcharge is IN ADDITION to out of state tuition (other states than IN/KY)? I missed this when first reviewing COA but I guess it’s good I found it now.
It appears to be a separate charge on the website. I wrote to the Bursar’s office for confirmation and they didn’t give me a clear answer. They also told me that tuition for 2024-25 won’t be available until late June/early July which is after decisions are due!
I agree their website language is confusing.
College Navigator lists their Out of State tuition and fees as $30,582 for 2023-24 with a 7.2% change from the prior year.

College Navigator doesn’t address the nonresident surcharge. I assume that would be added to tuition, but I can’t get a clear answer. The nonresident surcharge is listed as approximately $7667/semester on the website which is significant.
“Please note, the non-resident surcharge fee (out-of-state surcharge) is in addition to standard tuition rates.”
from Out-of-State Surcharge - About UC | University of Cincinnati
I believe when you are looking at charts with both in state (standard) and out of state tuitions listed, the non-resident surcharge has already been added in, but not program specific fees. The out of state surcharge doesn’t get added in twice.
So for the 2023-24 cohort:
Ohio residents $6,785.00 per semester
Out of State $6,785.00+$7,667.00=$14,452 per semester
from Tuition & Fees - About UC | University of Cincinnati
Those numbers are in line with the reported numbers on College Navigator.
If the surcharge were added twice the out of state numbers reported on College Navigator would be more than $44,000.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the out of state surcharge is already included in the nonresident tuition. The math certainly suggests that it has. But in the box under the the Tuition& Fees, there’s a statement that reads “Students could be subject to additional fees not included in the chart above. Such fees include but are not limited to program fees, out-of-state surcharge, student health insurance/bloodborne pathogen insurance and special course fees”. It’s this statement that has me concerned.
