<p>Well here is the bright side for us in New England. It’s ABOVE freezing. Otherwise, it would be quite nasty outside.</p>
<p>Our beaches down here in Cape May got remodeled…it’s amazing how dunes can appear, disappear, and shift. Seawalls come down, jetties reappear…never dull near the ocean.</p>
<p>DH took the dogs to the woods anyway today, and all came back drenched.</p>
<p>Ida was a tropical system that became extra-tropical once it hit land. The low pressure system reformed of the NC coast and became a Nor’Easter.
A Nor’easter is storm that moves up the east coast.
In New England they were called that because prior to meterology, they thought the system actually came down from Canada - since the leading winds blew from the North East.</p>
<p>It was Ben Franklin (he was quite a guy - huh?) who figured out that Nor’Easters actually come from the south. He did this by recounting letters from people up and down the eastern seaboard and figured the weather systems moved to the north and low pressure systems circulated counter-clockwise.</p>
<p>^ I hope this is correct since it is what my Dad told me years ago and he is never wrong. ;)</p>
<p>Yeah, the back 40 is flooded. I’m afraid to go into the basement. At least we didn’t lose power this time! Last year’s icestorm knocked out our power for 3 days.

<p>Yeah, Maine is pretty sick of rain. We just had the rainiest summer on record. Bring on the snow, I say!</p>
