When do they release EA?
I just have mid-February. I have to be honest -since my daughter switched to EA - I figure her chances are lotto level so I haven’t been paying much attention!

I’ll disagree with lottery.
They admitted 1492 ED and 2756 enrolled. People look at that and say - you have to be ED to get in.
If you assume 100% ED attendance (likely high 90s) - but assuming 100%, that means 1264 enrollees got in non-ED.
But they admitted 3640 or 3x that to get those 1264.
So hard yes. Lottery - no.
Non ED chances at most these schools people say that it’s impossible - just aren’t the case in reality.
The % of overall kids enrolling ED isn’t the stat to focus on (IMHO). It’s how many did they need to get the rest. At most schools it’s 5-7 kids for each non ED enrolled. NU does seem tighter at 3x.

would also add that acceptances into their non-Boston global programs/campuses are not usually counted in their sub-10% acceptance rate (unless the applicant put it as their 1st choice maybe?) that is reported in their common dataset statistics. For 2024-2025 class, there were 1537 acceptances into the NU.in program which is not an insignificant number. Anecdotally, many students accepted into these programs are likely those who need less or no financial aid as well so that can factor into the likelihood of admission. So i think the chances of getting admission to at least one of the Northeastern programs is significantly higher than what is reported (but no one really knows).

Does the “Deferred New Information” indicates an result that I should expect? Multiple sources suggest contradicting answers and I cannot recall whether this was present for me before. Applied EA with marginal demonstrated interest. Thanks for any insights.

Does anyone know what the acceptance % roughly looks like for EA, ED2 and RD?
Well - the non-ED rate was 3.8%. What was EA vs. RD - who knows? But whatever it was, it had to be in the low/mid single digits.
ED was 43% acceptance but if you assume athletes and other hooks were ED1, then ED2 was likely a lot lower as well.
You are right that acceptances to the other campuses are not included in the single-digit acceptance rate.
I would add that the VAST MAJORITY of acceptances to Northeastern appear to be in the alternate entry programs like NU in, and other campuses. Although the article you linked mentions 1537 acceptances into NU.in, that is the number that are actually matriculated in the program. The number of acceptances surely far exceeds that number, but I don’t think they report it specifically. I’m just guessing but I would bet the yield on NU.in and Oakland etc is single digit. Agian that’s just a guess but it does reflect the actual data at our school. Over the last 5 years at our school (which has about 225 graduating seniors each year) 81 students have applied to NU and 38 have been admitted. Crazy that our acceptance rate is over 40 percent. No, it’s not a “feeder” school. it’s that of those 81 the vast majority were accepted to campuses other than Boston. Typically we get 0-1 students accepted to Boston campus, of the 15-20 students that apply each year. In addition we have had about 7-10 others accepted to alternate campuses each year. They almost never attend (we sent one to NU.in in 2024). While I have no way of knowing if this is representative of other schools, I strongly suspect it is.

I don’t actually think the NUin program is a bad starting option. I suppose it is different - but it’s not the only university set up that way. It seems a lot more closely connected to the university than some ‘spring start’ options. And when you graduate - it’s the same degree from the Boston campus.

Just popping in to say that my daughter DID apply to the NUin program. Will that increase her chances -honestly it’s still pretty slim. (I’m still thinking lotto level) But that was actually the program she WANTS to do - and I think that was a good choice for her. For many kids, it’s just not what they want out of their college experience -and that’s okay too!
