Northeastern University 2020 ED1

@edk6151 correct… only regular fall admission is binding for ED

FWIW - accepted ED
D, T50 hard-grading priv. college prep
ACT 32C:32M:34S:29E:34R:11W + 33C:32M:29S:34E:36RN/AW:
GPA (9-11) 3.57/3.7 (G12 Q1 GPA: 3.88/4.48 (just core academic courses)
AP: ABCalc: 4, APENG: 4, APArt: 4 (ind study: no GPA bump). G12: BCCalc, Eng, CompSci
ECs: Strong, showed unique self-motivated perseverance. Interning at present.

TBH, having been though college admissions with many kids, relatives and friends, it is very hard to know why certain kids get accepted and other similar stat kids don’t. My guess for her is completeness of the application + lots of demonstration of self-motived EC + good recs + full pay.
D was sure NEU and her specific dual-major program was best program out there for her, and I’m guessing that came through application (submitting optional CAMD portfolio allowed her to write a NEU-specific “artists statement” even tho major is housed in D’Amore. No idea if this helped.)
Hope this helps someone down the line.

@PengsPhils could you please make a new NEU ED1 thread so that now that admissions have come out people don’t have to scroll to page 11 to see the admitted stats of students?

Got accepted to N.U IN (I’m wondering if there’s a possible group chat?)

@lauragpp I’ll try to link to the start point in the archive thread in the future. Not too many people in ED for its own thread anyway, that sort of data tends to be more helpful for EA/RD.

If you go on the IG account northeastern2024 they have a post about a group chat of admitted students including NUi.n.

@mountain250 I also got accepted through N.U.in with a major of Chemical Engineering!

@edk6151 that’s awesome! I might see you around then.

If i get a c in an ap class, will i be rescinded

@helpmepleasexo Likely not, just don’t get a D or you will have problems.

Hi everyone! I did the N.U.in Program in London this fall. Let me know if you’d like to know more about it. I’d be more than happy to help!

My son is applied EA; hoping for some merit so we can afford it. What have the boys been getting for merit? I know WPI is giving way more to the girls to entice them to attend …
From NEU website “Students who are in the top 10-15% of our applicant pool are considered for competitive merit awards, including the prestigious Dean’s Scholarship. Recipients are awarded between $10,000 and $28,000 annually. All fall freshman applicants for undergraduate admission to Northeastern are considered.”

@leapyearG Merit amounts are not tied to sex/gender in any way as Northeastern is 50/50 balanced. Of course, as that quote mentions though it is quite competitive. Good luck!

@PengsPhils thank you very good to hear, he has his heart set on NEU and I hope we can afford it for him.

@leapyearG I can give you personal experience. My son was offered minimal merit (10K) per year despite being near the top of the academic pool at WPI. He had female friends who were offered far more with lower stats. Northeastern’s merit offer was more than double. He is thrilled to be at Northeastern.

Hello, little late here. For everyone that got into nu.in, which option did you choose on common app? (yes, I prefer; yes, ill consider; no, I prefer not)? I put no I prefer not but considering changing it to consider (I will email admissions) if it helps. Really want to get in lol
(i applied ed2)

Can’t imagine giving them more options would hurt your chances in any way. It gives them a few more open slots to put you in if you end up on the bubble.

Fwiw, D’Amore-Kim moved up a few spots to 15 in Poets and Quants UG B-School rankings. Last year’s average SAT was 12 highest for the UG B-Schools they rank (no USC Marshall for some reason) at something like 1451.

@Annie4321 thank you so much that’s a big help. hopefully he gets accepted with good merit. I feel so guilty sending my daughter to WPI (she got really good merit) my son same stats and only got 14K. Fingers crossed.

@yellowlab64 I put no I prefer not for NU In but I still got into the NU IN program

I was accepted ED/NUIn for fall 2020 for computer science. Do you know what the classes are like related to your major? What did you like most/least about the program?
