northeastern is pretty known for yield protection, right? my stats were pretty high (i think), so I’m thinking my deferral was yield protection but honestly I have no idea.

From the website:
" Campus Transition Opportunities

Northeastern University Oakland undergraduate students are eligible to request to transition to another Northeastern undergraduate campus after their first year of study if they are seeking to transfer into an academic program not offered on their original campus. Students must also meet general major change criteria as outlined by the Office of the University Registrar.

Additionally, all undergraduate students at Northeastern University Oakland or Boston campuses can request to transition to another undergraduate campus after their second year of study. Upon completion of their second year of study, students may also request to transfer into the same academic program if offered at the new campus. Students must also meet general major change criteria as outlined by the Office of the University Registrar."

It’s hard to be a ā€œgood studentā€ because somehow there’s that sweet spot between not being good enough and being too good to the point where they defer/waitlist you for yield protection. It makes it impossible to rely on any acceptances

let me see (maybe i’m wrong and you’re right- in which case, whelp.) here’s what I got.

Students requesting an official campus transfer, or a location change are encouraged to apply one month prior to the start of the effective term.

You can’t transfer campuses. They have at least 5 different options (4 yrs boston, 4 yrs Oakland, 3 years London, NUin, Global Scholars). Whatever option they give you is your option. if you don’t accept it, you can’t switch. My daugher was accepted Global Scholars ED. That pathway became non-binding because it wasn’t her first choice–but we were informed that whatever you are offered is your only option for acceptance.

Mine is on a plane coming home from skiing!! ugh

Son is deferred. What we expected. He’d fallen off the Northeastern wagon over the course of the past few months so it’s a soft blow. He said he’s not sure he’ll follow up with LOCI and all that.
