They have ED for transfers?
oops! I meant to say I applied ED as a high school senior.

HS GPA: 4.19 on a 4.0 scale; top 20% of HS class @ competitive private hs
SAT: 1400-1500 range (sorry kinda personal) & also commended scholar
College ECs: business clubs, sorority
HS ECs: Varsity XC, Track, Swim; Editor of Yearbook; Captain of XC team + more stuff

also waiting for Emory!
So sorry to hear that, I’m sure NU will be pretty disappointed when they see your son as a leading doctor in 15 years!
Your son’s stats are easily better than mine in basically every way, so I’m surprised I didn’t get a rejection letter today, gonna need strength these next however many weeks lol.
Is the first wave mostly rejections and the following waves more acceptances?
Every wave is mostly rejections lol
My child applied as a High school senior Fall of 2019 Early decision. Got rejected. Applied again as a transfer January 2021 and sent application February 2021. Thank you, yes he is what my family calls “Boy Genius”. He is in a competitive honors program at his school. He loves it! He really loves Northwestern as well.
Thank you for the kind words. I guess admissions did not see it that way. Congrats to you!!
My brother said same thing when my boy was rejected as a ED applicant senior year that NU will regret this when they see what a successful MD he will become. LOL
WE STILL LOVE LOVE LOVE NORTHWESTERN! Enjoy the school it is wonderful!
like this message if you still haven’t heard back yet
I applied to Vanderbilt, Northwestern, and the University of Miami. All have had their first round of decisions and I haven’t heard back from any of them. Ugh.
I know I’m just nervous, but does being in the second round of decisions mean anything? I applied on time to all of the colleges I applied to but none of them gave me a decision in the first round? Does that mean anything? Or is it just chance?
nah i dont think it works like that…
transferred from: a non-ranked public school
Accepted: Weinberg for Economics (incoming sophomore)
College gpa: 3.95
HS gpa (all ib): 3.45… this just shows your hs gpa can be ass
ACT: 34
Essays: I really made this personal and vulnerable and explained why I wanted to switch my career to finance and how this affected me
Why northwestern essay: really focused on specific clubs, classes, and opportunities that Northwestern could provide me
Experience:
HS: Mayors Council, State tennis team and individual champ, started a tennis program as a coach
College: worked at covid-19 testing site the whole semester, interned at F500 company 2nd semester, was part of a very selective wall street club
I really made sure not to overdo my application, and maintained one theme or focus throughout the whole thing.
AND no i don’t have any hooks (not first-gen or low income or legacy or anything)
im sure i also got very lucky, and I truly wish the best for everyone. I did not post stats to brag but i just wanted to give u an idea if you think you are in a similar situation:)
Incoming sophomore or junior? I’m also going to be in Weinberg for Economics.
like i will start northwestern as a Sophomore lol
congrats tho!!
I’m going crazy
Is it a bad idea/too late to send an update on current/new activities and summer plans? Just add it as an additional info section?
