ppenguin, how did you forward your application to Medill? they let you do that? Also, is there enough time in a schedule to do both Medill and pre-med because it doesn’t seem like the courses would overlap that much? That actually sounds like a really cool idea

Well, it was actually almost IMPOSSIBLE to do, lol, but it’s what I really wanted to do in the first place: broadcast journalism and pre-med. My school has an exceptional reputation at Medill and I’m the EIC of the paper, so I had to pull some strings to get it done. If I decide to go to NU (which is looking very slim now because I have better offers other, comparable or better places), it’s going to be a boatload of work but it’s really what I want to do. You really have to be dedicated to do it, which is why I’m kind of glad I didn’t get into the HPME because they were really adverse to the idea of journalism and pre-med, whereas other medical programs aren’t.

Just curious, which guaranted UG+Med Schools did you guys apply to? Are there many like NW?

Schools (that I know of) that have combined UG and Med programs:

Brown
WashU
UCSD
USC
Rice/Baylor

MSU, Mizzou, BU, GW, UIC

so all interviews are complete! and the month long wait begins…

when do we find out if we were accepted or not? April 1st for sure or is April 1st the earliest?

i totally agree!

what’s the minimum gpa? i have a weighted 4.3 and 34 on act…

well there’s no set minimum gpa requirement but i think yours is kinda low compared to most people who apply

my weighted gpa was 4.47. about the same for everyone interviewing on the same day as me

Can anyone tell me if these stats would have a chance for an interview?

Also, I have the opportunity to either collect pay for work (Computer/IT/other Tech) done at a (low-income, minority) school, or use the time as volunteer work. Money is always nice, so if it makes no difference as far as applications go, I’d rather take the money; but if it would help my application, I’ll use it for volunteer hours. It is around 200 hours. Will it help my app?
