Northwestern RD Class of 2022 Discussion Thread

DD rejected- 1550’Sat, 45/45 IB

accepted
ACT: 33
GPA weighted: 4.45
13 AP’s total
didn’t think id made it tbh, but thankful

Waitlisted but not one bit concerned as better schools in the bag… However, the statistics are astounding. From their own website, Early round applications were 4049 of which 1072 were admitted as ED (26%). Total applications for the year 40418. Even if one were to assume all the remaining early round applicants were rejected (best case scenario for regular round admits), for a target of 1925 for the year, that leaves 853 spots out of 36369 applicants (or 2.3% acceptance in regular round). If all the unadmitted students from early round were deferred, the acceptance in regular round drops to 2.2% (853/39346). Regardless of how one looks at it, this shows their ED acceptance is 10 times their regular acceptance. Bye bye NU.

anyone know how many people they waitlist?

@bogeyorpar It’ll be a higher than 33% yield bc they admit so much of their class in ED, probably at least 50% overall

Accepted into schools just as good as NU, so im not that upset, lol

@holistic2 That assumes the yield in the RD round is 100%. So 2.2% wouldn’t be correct.

Waitlisted. Not too broken up about it.

Decent EC but not a lot of leadership I think my low math scores in my act hurt me as I was a STEM major.
