Northwestern Transfers Fall 2017

@swarleys congrats! Sadly I was rejected by both but I am happy for you :D! What were your stats if you don’t mind sharing?

@SeinfeldFan1 Thanks! I’m sure you’ll do great & get in somewhere you love!!

I didn’t get into Williams, but I liked UChicago better anyway (and am still reeling I really didn’t expect to get in) :slight_smile:

College: University College London (I’m American but went abroad for my first year)
GPA: I don’t actually have a GPA because of the way the English system works, but I’ve been doing well on my essays and am supposedly on track for a first (my tutor told me he wrote me a “glowing” letter of rec)
Major: English

High School: well-ranked, hyper competitive public school in NJ
HS GPA: 3.6 or 3.7 unweighted, 4.1 or 4.2 weighted I think?? It’s been a while & I’ve basically blocked it out
SAT: 2290 (760 M, 740 CR, 790 W), too many APs & SAT2s, but generally good scores on those (700s range and mostly 5s)
ECs:

  • Directed, acted in, & wrote a short play for my uni theatre society (I actually got commendation for doing a lot??)
  • Was on the fencing team for a while (varsity in high school, less in college)
  • Design editor & writing staff for school magazine; managing editor of the high school arts magazine
  • Had some short fiction published in an anthology for a university writing prize
  • Volunteer at the national ballet, previously worked in development at a nonprofit
  • On some student leadership committee things
  • basically doing too much tbh but I don’t have a lot of class time here and needed to find something to do other than watch Netflix

god this sounds like bragging I basically just tried really hard to get my act together this year because I didn’t do nearly enough in high school, and actually didn’t get in anywhere I wanted to go the first time around

i called transfer admissions and she was pretty vague about specific dates (she said we’ll just hear decisions throughout May at random intervals rather than waves) though by now i think we could all guess that.

nonetheless, good luck to the rest of you!

@as2581 sorry, she said that they will come out sporadically rather than on Wednesdays?

@brownstone89 yes

@as2581 I was told that too but I kind of just figured that was their official response

This whole waiting around thing really sucks I don’t like waves at all lol, still waiting to hear back from 9/12 schools and I wish it was all on one date.

@people who called admissions today, so that means we could hear back this afternoon as well as any weekday afternoon correct?

So probably there will be a decision today?

@Fantasticbabe

That’s the question,. Will they skip this week and potentially just release more next week? Will it be weekly still or not? I guess we won’t know more until this evening.

Has anyone heard anything?

Shoutout to @VaishS and everyone else who was accepted, what do you guys think you’ll decide?

It’s more fun to be excited for you than focus on the waiting. And we still may end up as classmates!

Committed to another school three weeks ago and I’m still stressing out about this… I’ve been dealing with college applications for two years straight and I just want to be DONE

@LesMeules Hello! I actually got accepted to my first choice school Penn and thus will be turning down NU. I hope the spot goes to one of you! :slight_smile: Best of luck!

@VaishS Congrats on Penn!!! Based on your earlier posts, it will be a great fit for you personally and academically! It’s a superb school, and they’re lucky to have you :slight_smile: Best of luck with your college (and medical) career

@LesMeules awww thank you!!! I really hope you get into NU! Good luck with everything! <3

@aihcxx Why are you waiting for northwestern if you’ve already committed to another school?

I think they didn’t release this week because they had to sort out remaining spots after people didn’t pay their deposits by May 3rd. That was the same case for vandy. Deposit was due May 2nd, and they didn’t release any decisions that week.

@collegeruled200 I committed to Cornell and they gave me zero financial aid, so if Northwestern decides to give me some $$ there’s a small chance I might change my decision.
