I don’t get it. I’ve read a ton of reviews about Northwestern, and they all say the same thing:

The Evanston population (in general) doesn’t like Northwestern students (in general).

Why?

I don’t get it. I’ve read a ton of reviews about Northwestern, and they all say the same thing:

The Evanston population (in general) doesn’t like Northwestern students (in general).

Why?

Northwestern doesn’t pay taxes. Lots of students are arrogant.

Why doesn’t the university pay taxes?

<a href=“Historic Self-Preservation - Econlib”>Historic Self-Preservation - Econlib;

that sums it up pretty well, I think.

because they’re wannabe rich north shore folks who can’t afford to live in Wilmette/Winnetka/Kenilworth and are loathe to admit that this means they have to live next to college students.

In other words, their north shore dream doesn’t equal the college town reality.

P.S. I came to NU as a humble middle-class student from a rural town in Michigan and was only turned into one of those arrogant students in the second part of your answer after dealing with the snobbery of Evanston residents first-hand. If they complain about us, they should try living in Madison, WI or East Lansing, MI for a while.
