Not Applying For Financial Aid = Hook?

I agree that it’s total BS that kids who are obviously subpar can get into top colleges because they have money. Whatever happened to pure merit?

This Country was not founded on, nor has it even been run on, pure merit. It is only about the top 2-3% of households that can afford to pay $45K/yr. Yet 40% plus pay this on average at top colleges.

Often kids who fall at the top have lived among only those who also have and really have never had a look at how the poor live. That’s just life.

that’s not what I was saying. It’s just i hate it when people are bitter about money, and complain about it. Turn it around and make it for your family when you’re older. If my dad could pull this out of a college from Russia, you should be able to do it in a decent college in America.

I am some poor kids have the credtenials needed for HYPS. My family income is somewhat low but then again i dont have the stats. Check out my chances threads or ask for a pm. I want a chances evalutaion.

so what if rich people are getting the upperhand. Go to college and get rich.

The reason there are so few truly poor at top colleges is that it’s hard to find qualified poor Americans. Qualified poor internationals are a dime a dozen but most of the money is for the elusive poor Americans.

I am close to being poor. I think I am quite qualified (not to sound conceded or anything). I have a 34 act and 800 on 3 subject tests.
